What is Organizational Resilience?
I have created this series to discuss the practical elements of Organizational Resilience and to share ideas and tips on how any business can be more resilient.
Resilience is an interesting topic and Organizational Resilience often comes down to the abilities of the staff working within that organization. The discussion below includes some questions about how resilient the next generation of ‘technology dependent’ youth will be.

- I’m really passionate about small business resilience, primarily because small businesses can’t afford people with our expertise, and can’t afford the compensating controls or insurance to protect themselves in the event of a disruption or crisis!
- Well done on the initial release, time to get the ball rolling. Great idea and a wonderful concept to help raise awareness.
- A bit left field and not necessarily a tip, but I think organizational resilience will be tested more so as the next wave of technology dependent workforce comes through. I am currently reading ‘The Cyber Effect’ by Mary Aitken, where she raises questions as to the resilience of ‘social media and technology dependent’ youth due to their creation of alter-ego’s and disconnect from the reality of day to day conflicts and decision making. The technology addiction also promotes a group think mentality, especially in the social media realm, so the challenge in empowering decision making and overall organizational resilience could be steep for the next generation.
- It will be very difficult for somebody to design or pick up a manual solution in the absence of technology, when they’ve never had to use it before. In emergency scenarios – communication, decision making and conflict resolution are key and could also be challenging for this generation.
