Business Continuity and Health and Safety
What is the relationship between Business Continuity and Health and Safety? They are both important practices that feed into organizational resilience. Although everybody understands and is aware of the need for Health and Safety, the same cannot always be said about Business Continuity.
How can you increase the profile of Business Continuity in your organization?
Embedding Business Continuity into an organization is about integrating Business Continuity into ‘business as usual’. The idea is to normalize Business Continuity practices so it is seen as – the way we do things around here.
You can start by ensuring everybody is aware of Business Continuity, they understand what it means and how to find their Business Continuity Plan.
Questions to consider
- What is it that we do?
- What is our business?
- How are we going to continue to do it?
- What roles do we have to play?
- How will we ensure that we are ready for when something happens?
Once all the departments have a Plan, these should be exercised regularly (at-least once per year).
